What this tool does

Some application forms ask you to upload a photo that has your name and the date it was taken written at the bottom. This is done so the authority can check that the photo is recent and belongs to you.

Doing this by hand in a photo editor is slow and often goes wrong: the text is too small, it does not fit, or the file becomes too large. This tool adds your name and date neatly, sets the exact size you need, and keeps the file under your KB limit, all in one step. It runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded to our website.

How to use it

  1. Press Choose your photo and select a clear, front-facing photo.
  2. Type your name exactly as it appears on your form or documents.
  3. Check the date. It is set to today, and you can change it to the date the photo was really taken.
  4. Choose a date format. Use the format your form asks for. If the form does not say, DD/MM/YYYY is the most common in India.
  5. Choose where the text goes. A white strip below the photo is what most forms expect. The dark band on the photo option is there if a form wants the text on the picture itself.
  6. Enter the final size and the maximum KB from your form. The size includes the text area.
  7. Press Create photo, read the text in the preview, and download the file.

Which photo should you use?

A good photo matters more than any tool.

  • Take the photo against a plain, light background, ideally white or off-white.
  • Stand facing the camera with your face straight and fully visible, eyes open, without a cap or dark glasses.
  • Use daylight or even light so there are no strong shadows on your face.
  • Keep your shoulders in the frame and leave a little space above your head, because the tool crops evenly and favours the top of the picture to keep your head safe.
  • Take a fresh photo close to the date you write on it. Do not use an old photo.

Use the real date

Please write the true date on which the photo was taken. Forms ask for the date to confirm that your photo is recent, and a wrong date can lead to rejection of your application. This tool is built to save you time with formatting, not to change facts.

How to write your name

  • Use the same spelling as on your certificates, ID proof and the application form. Different spellings can cause verification problems later.
  • Do not add titles or extra words unless the form asks for them.
  • The tool can write the name in capital letters, which are easier to read in a small space. Untick the option if your form wants normal letters.

Text area height and readability

The text area takes a share of the total height. With 20%, most names and dates stay clear at common form sizes. If your photo size is small, for example 200 x 230 pixels, and your name is long, increase the text area to 25% or 30%, or choose Both in one line only when the name is short. The tool shrinks the text automatically to fit, and it warns you when the letters become too small to read comfortably.

Why your upload can still get rejected

  • The name or date is missing, cut off, or too small to read.
  • The date is old, or in a different format from what the form asks.
  • The file is above the KB limit or the pixel size is different from the form.
  • The face is too small in the frame, or partly covered.
  • The format is not accepted. This tool creates a JPG file, which most forms accept.

Always look at your final file on your screen before you upload it.

Is my photo safe?

Yes. Your photo is processed inside your own browser. It is not sent to our servers or stored, and it disappears when you close the page.

Frequently asked questions

Does every form need a name and date on the photo?

No. Only some forms ask for it. Read your form's official instructions to see whether it is needed for your photo.

Should the text be inside the photo or below it?

Follow your form. Most forms want a plain strip below the face with the name and date, so that is the first option in the tool.

Can I change the date?

You can choose any date, but please enter the real date when the photo was taken.

My name is long and the text looks small. What should I do?

Increase the text area height to 25% or 30%, and keep Name, then date on separate lines. You can also increase the pixel size if your form allows it.

Can I use my mobile phone for this?

Yes, the tool works on phones, tablets and computers.

What size should I choose?

Use the size in the official notification. The final size includes the strip, and the presets are only common examples.

Is this tool free?

Yes, it is free with no sign-up.
